City of Joy, Alaknanda, New Delhi

City of Joy is aptly named after a city which loves its fish. But despite being close to the sea front, people of Bengal are more in love with river fish. But things are fine till the time fish is the common factor. The debate between the sea fish and river fish is for another day.

Location of City of Joy

City of Joy is located in the interiors. It is placed on the edge of CR Park area and Alaknanda area. Best way for anyone coming from outside is to follow Google maps. Thankfully it is easily visible from the main road.

Another popular landmark is that it is opposite NRI Colony. It is located on the first floor of a market complex.

About City of Joy restaurant

Just stepping inside the restaurant, you are transported to a different world altogether. It is no longer Delhi but you are on the shore of Hooghly river. Interiors are pure Bengal. So is the music. The menu is again 100% Kolkata. Navigating the menu might need some help from the waiters. They are ready to help with options. After the order is placed, all you have to do is wait. The menu items are mostly fish. Hence it might take some time to arrive at your table. Some of the fish is not available in Delhi, easily. The prices are little highish. But the food is worth it. And the preparation is awesome. Portions are generous.

Due to some quick of fate we ordered only fish cutlets and had to get content with it. But there will be definitely a second visit to enjoy the fish treats. Parking outside is free and adequate. The outside of the restaurant and its staircase will put some second thoughts in the minds of first timers. But believe me. Just take the step inside without any fear.
