Kake Di Hatti, Chandni Chowk, New Delhi

Kake Di Hatti is located on the Church Mission Road, which is a road you take on to your left once you reach the T junction of Fatehpuri Masjid on Chandni Chowk Road. If Chandni Chowk road is a shoppers paradise, then Church Mission road is a foodies paradise. This lane has some good stuff and Kake Di Hatti stands tall among them.

Location of Kake Di Hatti

Kake Di Hatti is located on the main road and clearly marked on Google Maps. You will not miss the activity surrounding it and it is mostly crowded.

How to reach there

This part is easier said than done. The place is very crowded and it is a shopping destination, the place is not such to leisurely walk around. Best option is to reach Chandni Chowk in a Metro and take an e rickshaw or a cycle rickshaw. I prefer the walk option as the street view is great. And once you reach the end of Chandni Chowk road, take a right to reach Kake Di Hatti. Parking is not available. Limited parking for a two wheeler on the main road, which is crowded anyway.

About the food

Well Delhi cuisine is pretty simple and the vegetarian option are even more simple and limited. There are parathas and nana, Rajma or choole, paneer or any other vegetable. The recipe collection of a typical homemaker will just run a few pages. Despite this most eating joints in Delhi manage to get it wrong and that too with glaring consistency.

And in this mess we have one shining star which now I can say servers arguably the best vegetarian food in New Delhi. We ordered Paneer Tikka, Amritsari Thali, Gobi Paratha, Choole, Jeera Rice and Pineapple Raita. The portions are huge and the size of Parathas is gigantic. Prices are reasonable and service is fast. But the main attraction is food. Simple and tastes like home cooked food. Complete with generous helpings of butter.

Other points to note

Seating options are limited in a small space. So be ready to be slightly uncomfortable. There is no air conditioning, so with the heat and pollution, be careful. But it is all bearable. After the shops close, it suddenly transforms in a different world. So after eight in the evening, one will see a sudden drop in the number of families milling around. Dont carry too much of bags with you as the seating place is limited.
