Kebab Gali is one of the top rated restaurant in New Delhi. It has lots and lots of reviews most of them rating in the region of 4 to 4.5 out of 5. We decided to check it out for ourselves, what is so good about this place that it is loved so much by its patrons.
Location of Kebab Gali
At the time of writing this article, there are two outlets of Kebab Gali, one of which is in Malviya Nagar and which stands rated as the better of the two.
Location is wrongly marked on Google Maps. It is located on Maharishi Dayanand Marg and is in the same row of restaurant that are placed in a semi circle at the T junction of the main road. The lights and display board make sure, you cannot miss it.
Parking is adequate, but it can get chaotic in the evenings. Malviya Nagar has not been designed to handle any more load of vehicles than those which are already there. So plan your visit to this place accordingly.
About the restaurant
In this crescent formed by the slight turn of the road, there are some famous names who have established themselves in the restaurant business. So Kebab Gali has some tough competition and a reputation to make and maintain. Restaurant is small with less than ten tables. A large chunk of business for this one and similar in the neighborhood is focused on home delivery. But still a sizeable number of customers do come to sit and have food. This place also had its share, which means that at peak hours you might have to wait.
The interiors are very minimal but tastefully decorated keeping in tune with the theme of the food served here. Seating is comfortable and a large TV dominates one of the walls.
About the food at Kebab Gali, Malviya Nagar
Besides the normal Mughali menu there are some interesting items like Mutton Nihari, which we specially wanted to try. The highlight of this place is nicely prepared and tasty food. With the regular items, this place hits the bulls eye. Both preparation and presentation takes you to another world where food is the main focus of attention. Starting with snacks, both the sheekh kabab and chicken tikka were delicious. And well marinated too. The main course of Nihari and Paratha was also equally good and the quality of meat used is top class. In the end we tried Biryani.
Somehow there was the zing missing in the biryani. Presentation was superb, taste is also good. But if you have tried biryani from the different parts of the country, then better to avoid here. But if not then you will find this biryani one of the best in Delhi. So this review will get an update after a revisit, just for another look at the biryani.
Attention to detail is a hallmark of the place, the waiters indulge in it and so goes to the preparation of the food too. We kept observing and found ourselves happy with the place. Service is good and fast and portions are generous with not a big hit to the pocket.
This place goes right at the top as far as tasty food is concerned.
